Lately

I'm writing this post to cement my 'Demri's summa-time Rulez.' They're simple, to-the-point, and easy enough to conquer. I want to cut the clutter, be a little healthier, and learn about my spending habits.

1. If it'll take less than a minute, do it now. Easy. Put the dishes away. File those pay stubs. Take out the recycling. Instead of making a to-do list of 15 minute-long tasks later, do them now, one at a time.

2. You bought that new water bottle for a reason; drink at least 6 of them every single day. Self explanatory. At least 3 litres daily. Refreshing!

3. You can file that hangnail, don't chew it. Again, duh. But really, I need to never bite another fingernail/hangnail again. It's a terrible habit, yucky, and childish.

4. Um... Don't buy that, even (and especially) if it's on sale. Save your money. I have a serious spending habit. I really love materials, and oftentimes I sincerely think it's all about the upgrade. My rule is not to stop spending ever, but the idea is to be really conscious of what I'm buying. Would I buy it if it was full price? Would I save up for it if it cost more? I am very apt at getting good deals, but I also know that renders some of my purchases useless if they were only a good deal.

5. If there's time, just walk there. I do some seriously good thinking on walks. These are my summa-time rules, so the weather should pretty much always permit. If there's time, walk. Easy. If my feet hurt (which they probably will, they're awfully sensitive) wear shoes that seriously don't affect my feet (Havaianas or Birks) even if they're less adorable.
